Offered here is an extremely rare (we could find only two other works of this artist on the Web - see our images nr.7-8) work of French pastelist and miniaturist Nicolas Brard.
Nicolas Brard was active between 1770 and the late 1790s in Paris (there, he was first mentioned in 1770 as the Academie Royale student expelled for throwing clay at Michel-François Dandré-Bardon on two occassions. He was then mentioned in La Rochelle after his dismission from the Academie.
