A. Ingres, 1850 650 EUR - 50% DISCOUNT = 325,00 EUR "The architects Achille Leclere and Jean-Louis Provost" - a very rare engraving by the well listed Parisian female artist Mme Louise Girard. Made in 1850 after an original drawing by the famous Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (see our two additional images with pages from Hans Naef's "Die Bildnis-Zeichnungen von J.-A.-D. Ingres", volume IV). The original printing plate of this engraving is housed today in the collection of Smith College Museum of Art, Northhampton. Mme Louise Girard, nee Bathilde, was born in the late 18th century. As a young girl she married Regnault's pupil, Parisian engraver Francois Girard (1787-1870) and became his pupil and collaborator. Besides engraving she specialized in porcelain painting. At 1824 Salon de Paris she showed her porcelain paintings after Pierre Mignard and Francois Gérard. Otherwise, she was known, among others, through her miniature technique on porcelain portraits (sic!).
