Andres Achenbach is one of the most significant names in the German art history of the 19th century. A world-famous landscape painter, he began his career at the age of 12 as a student of the Duesseldorf Academy. His professors were the famous Schirmer and Schadow. At the age of 17 Aschenbach made his first study trip to East and North Sea. Afterwards he travelled a lot through Scandinavia, Tyrol, Italy. He was the best representative of the Duesseldorf School.
