It is a work of the miniaturist Bertin who - according to Leo Schidlof - was active between 1800 and 1825 in Geneva and Bordeaux. Schidlof adds that, in Geneva, he worked together with enamelist Georges Michel Maeulle.
The work, which is offered here, appears to have been executed in Geneva. Moreover, the ligated monogram on the additional organic wafer on verso with initials "CB" could be another indication that this work is the artist's self-portrait ("CB" for C.B.(ertin?)).
