Leopold Alphons Mielich (1863 Klosterneuburg near Vienna - 1929 Salzburg) studied in Paris, London and Munich. Until 1887, he served as lieutenant of artillery in the Austrian Army; then, spent a few years in London and the Middle East. Especially known are his numerous paintings from Cairo and its surroundings (part of them was acquired by Kaiser Franz Josef I and the Austrian Ministry of Education). In 1901, Mielich returned to the Middle East.
The artist regularly exhibited in Vienna, Paris, London, as well as in various German and Russian cities. From 1894, he was a member of the Viennese artist group "Wiener Kuenstlerhaus". Works of Mielich belong to collections of Austrian National Gallery (Belvedere), museums of Salzburg, etc.
