Baron Hugo von Bouvard began his career as an officer of the Austrian army. From 1908 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts being a pupil of R.Bacher. In 1910 he finally ended his military career to study in the private school Knirr in Munich. He continued his studies under Hans Mueller in Dachau and Karlsruhe. Von Bouvard joined the Vienna Secession in 1921, in 1938-48 lived in England, then in Vienna again. He was a well-known portrait, still life and landscape painter.
