He was born in 1820 in Brno, studied at the Vienna Academy and was active in Vienna from 1842. In 1848 Charlemont took part in the revolution and fought on the barricades. During the same year he moved to Znaim (in today's Czech Republic ) where he was active as portrait miniaturist and teacher and went back to live in Vienna again where he died in 1871. Condition: In good overall condition, one minor spot of foxing on the left edge, matted.
