Acquired in January 2018 from a Viennese private collection, this superior quality miniature on ivory (as we believe the artist's monogram "L: C:" means "Le Court") is absolutely typical (see comparison images nr.9-14) and another work of French, early 19th century miniaturist J.Lecourt IN OUR POSSESSION.
The park landscape with old aqueduct in the background is that of famous Chateau de Maintenon in Northern France (CLICK HERE; the depicted lady is probably one of the female members of the family of duc de Noailles - in late 1810s chateau's owner).

J. Lecourt worked in Versailles as a miniaturist. He lived there at 37, Av. de St. Cloud. While working in Versailles, he regularly sent miniatures to the exhibitions of the Salon de Paris between the years 1804 and 1819. Some of these miniatures were painted "to the imitation of the enamels of Petitot". According to Nagler, Lecourt was still working in Versailles in 1830 (Nathalie Lemoine Bouchard mentions his works from 1836).
Schidlof writes that he was a good miniaturist, whose works (especially wide-open eyes) resemble that of Autissier.
Works of J. Lecourt belong to various museum and important private collections.
