Christian Hornemann (1765 Copenhagen - 1844 Copenhagen) was a pupil of the Academy of Copenhagen where he obtained prizes in 1785 and 1786. From 1786 to 1803 he travelled in Italy, Germany and Austria, exhibited in Berlin (1797), and made several portraits for the Prussian Court. From 1798 to 1803 Hornemann lived in Vienna. Back in Denmark he became in 1805 member of the Academy and was appointed painter to the King of Denmark. . From 1818 to 1842 the artist exhibited at the academical exhibitions in Copenhagen.
