This, executed in 1801,very interesting for specialists in Napoleonica (especially uniformologists) work of well-known Bavarian artist Johann Michael Mettenleiter contains four scenes showing each different Bavarian military units in action.
Johann Michael Mettenleiter (1765 Grosskuchen, Kingdom Wuerttemberg - 1853 Passau, Eastern Bavaria) studied under his older brother Johann Jakob Mettenleiter - at first in 1776/77 in Rome and in 1778/82 in Augsburg. From 1782 he lived in Munich where in 1790 he succeeded Winter as court engraver. In 1808 he founded there own lithographic institute and in 1809 the similiar one in possession of state. His contemporaries gave him the nickname "Bavarian Chodowiecki".
