The sitter of this, high quality miniature on ivory was a Spanish prince (see princely crown on the left and his Spanish awards). This relatively young aristocrat wears an uniform of either Spanish statesman or general of Spanish Army fighting against Napoleon in so-called Peninsular War (1807-1814; CLICK HERE). His sash of the Spanish Royal Order of St.Ferdinand (also called "Laureate Cross of St.Ferdinand) provides lower time border of this portrait - this order was established in 1811 (CLICK HERE).
The breast star on his left chest is that of the Spanish Royal Military Order of St.Hermenegild (established on 28th November 1814; CLICK HERE).
Letter in his left hand begins with words of a congratulation - "Contentarvi di poco..." (English: "I am happy to inform you..."); it was surely a main reason to order this portrait immediately - we believe he just learned (1814?) about awarding Order St.Hermengild.
After profound web search we came to the conclusion that the absolutely first in question would be Pedro de Alcantara Tellez-Giron y Alfonso Pimentel (1787-1851), better known as the "Principe de Anglona" (see our images nr. 8-10 with his biography and two other portraits of his).
In 1814 he was 28 what fully corresponds to sitter's visual age. Besides thatthat he was then (since several years) general of Spanish Army.
