Extremely rare on the current antique market it is a work of female miniaturist Alexandrine Orcelle who is known as a pupil of Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin. Her address in mid 1790s was 5, rue de Hauteville, Paris. In 1796 she exhibited a "frame containing several miniatures" at the Salon. Schidlof calls her "Mme Alexandrine Orcelle". Contrary to one of the sources which we found online - "La police secrete du Premier Empire: Bulletin quotidiens addresses par Savary a l'Empereur de juin 6 decembre 1810" - we find her as still (and that in 1810!) "Mlle Alexandrine Orcelle".
