J. Lecourt worked in Versailles as a miniaturist. He lived there at 37, Av. de St. Cloud. While working in Versailles, he regularly sent miniatures to the exhibitions of the Salon de Paris between the years 1804 and 1819. Some of these miniatures were painted "to the imitation of the enamels of Petitot". According to Nagler, Lecourt was still working in Versailles in 1830 (Nathalie Lemoine Bouchard mentions his works from 1836).
