Marie-Genevieve Bellot was born in ca. 1756, in Paris and died in 1833. She was a pupil of artist Jean-Jacques Bachelier and she exhibited repeatedly at Salon de Paris. In 1776 she married Charles-Nicolas-Justin Favart, the "secretaire de l'intendance de Paris". Soon thereafter the latter turned to a career as a dramatist. He died in 1806 and Mme Favart never remarried.
