Henri Bellange was born on 8th of June 1613 in Nancy (god parents: Henri II Duke of Lorrain and Christine de Salm, Duchess of Vaudémont) and died between 1672 and 1680 in Paris (he was mentioned there as collaborator of Simon Vouet). Between 1633 and 1645 he repeatedly stayed in Rome (one finds his name - "Errigo Bellange" - in lists of Accademia di S.Luca). Especially known are his small portrait drawings on vellum (some of them are to see in Louvre).
Provenance: French noble estate (initially set (together with eleven other miniatures) into wooden tableau - see image nr.9).
