Edward Tayler (also Taylor) was born in 1828, in Orbe, Switzerland, and died in London in 1906. He was the son of an Englishman and a Swiss woman, a nephew and pupil of the Artist Frederick Tayler. Between 1849 and 1905, he used several London addresses to register for various exhibitions at the London Royal Academy and other local sites. He also worked in Nothingham. He was also a founding member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters and its treasurer. Edward Tayler was also patronized by members of the Royal Family. His other son - Harry Tayler - also became a portrait miniaturists.
