Osip Christophorovich Dudin was born in 1714 in village Kuroostrov, Arkhangelskaya Gubernia. After learning the trade of walrus bone carving, he came to St. Petersburg in 1757, where he then (mostly) produced portraits. From 1775, he lived in Slisselburg; later - in Solovetski Monastery (where he obviously died after 1785).
