Philipp (Johann Philipp) Heinel (1800 Bayreuth - 1843 Munich) attended the Nuremberg School of Drawing fromn 1818. In the same period, he was also active as painter of boxes and small oil portraits. In 1820, he received Royal scholarship and began studies at the Munich Academy, where he trained with Peter von Langer. From 1826, Heinel mainly painted genre scenes documenting folk life, as well as landscapes with figural staffage.
