According to Schidlof, Zender was a French miniaturist, who was mentioned in reference sources as an artist working between 1797 and 1821 (sic!). Schidlof says also that "although one rather frequently meets works by him, so far we have no information about this artist. He was a good artist of average talent, who worked rather freely and whose works are reminiscent of those of E.Lami". Provenance: private collection, Salzburg, Austria
