This superior quality miniature portrait shows an anonymous aristocrat in nocturnal landscape (his dress and hairstyle suggest 1750s). It is, with high likelihood, a work of well-known French mid-18th-century miniaturist Le Feure (Andre-Claude-Martin Lefevre d'Orgeval).
Until recent researches provided his full given name and biographical details, Andre-Claude-Martin Lefevre d'Orgeval was described in reference literature (see Schidlof) as a certain miniaturist Le Feure, working in France in the middle of 18th century.
He resurfaced in the French archives as miniaturist Andre-Claude-Martin Lefevre d'Orgeval living from ca. 1751 to 1772 together with his brother, pastelist Jean-Baptiste Lefevre in Parisian quai Pelletier (his brother owned a stationary shop "A la couronne d'or" there). In 1763, Andre-Claude-Martin made bankruptcy and revealed unpaid debts from numerous members of the aristocracy (among others, from duc de Brancas, Prince von Anhalt, Princess de Rohan, comte d'Egmont, Lord Hamilton, etc.).
