Johann Christian Schoeller (1782 Rappoltsweiler - 1851 Vienna) began his study at the Munich Academy under Klot, then went to Geneva to learn the art of miniature painting. In 1812 he was in Paris, then traveled to the Provence and Rhine Valley, and finally settled in Vienna in 1815. In the future, he only left Vienna for short stays in Italy and Paris. Schoeller showed his miniatures at the Viennese academic exhibitions of 1820, 1822 and 1826. The artist was also a skillful caricaturist and spent a lot of years working in this sphere for "Theater-Zeitung" (theater magazine), very much in fashion in Vienna at that time period.
