Louis-Alexandre Adam was born in ca. 1740 in Paris. From 1765 he was active in Geneva, Switzerland (in 1768, he took Swiss citizenship). He collaborated with J.-G- Viollier and J. Fallery and specialized in enamel miniatures intended for use in upscale bijouterie (sic!). Later, Adam worked together with his son - enamellist Isaak Adam. In the period of the 1st Empire, the artist returned to Paris, where he passed away in 1813.
