Rosalba Carriera (1675 Venice - 1757 ibidem) was a pupil of Lazzari and Balestra. During her lifetime she was internationally famous for her portraits in pastel and her miniatures. She was one of the first artists to use ivory. In 1705 she became member of the Academy of St.Luc in Rome. She traveled a lot and portrayed many important people. Around the year 1745 she lost her sight. Works by Rosalba Carriera belong to the most important museum collections of the world.
