Miniature portrait of a Bavarian military officer in uniform (regulation of 1808/18) of a Hauptmannn (captain) of one of line infantry regiments. He is decorated with three awards (from left to right):
- Bavarian Memorial Cross for Participants of Liberation (anti-Napoleonic) Wars of 1813-15
- Cross of Russian Imperial St. Vladimir Order of the 4th Class and
- Cross of Napoleonic Order of the Legion d'Honneur (4th model (1808-1813)).
Bavarian standart source, "Hof- und Staats-Handbuch des Königreichs Bayer for 1819" names only two junior officers in line infantry (both Hauptmanns, both in 9th Infantry Regiment), who in 1818 possessed avorementioned complect of awards - Sebastian Roppelt and Joseph Zizmann (also Zitzmann).
This miniature demonstrates all stylistic criteria of works of turn of 19th century Bavarian miniaturist Peter Mayr (for comparison, see also other works of this artist in our possession).
