According to biographical information provided by Nathalie Lemoine-Bouchard (see our additional image), Jacques-Louis-Antoine Delaplace was born in 1767, in Vernon, and died after 1832. Both Benezit and late Schidlof refer to him as pupil of Chatelain and A. Renou. Nonetheless, Lemoine-Bouchard says that from 1785 he studied under M. Barthelemy at the "Ecole de l'Academie royale" in Paris.
