Alexandre Chaponnier (also Chaponniere; 1753 Geneva - 1850) was a well-known Franco-Swiss engraver, painter and miniaturist. At a young age he traveled to Paris to study the art of engraving. He was mainly active as a reproductive artist, making copper engravings after Jacques-Antoine Arlaud, Jean-Baptiste Regnault, Van Spaendonck, John Opie, Jean-Baptiste Huet, Jean-Simon Fournier and Louis Leopold Boilly.
