Although unfortunately not in a best condition (a restored vertical crack runs across the sitter's left cheek), this work displays a very high quality of execution. It is a miniature portrait of a (still anonymous) officer from one of the two Austrian Line Infantry Regiments. Based on his regimental's collar and yellow buttons, one can say that he served in either 11th or 51st Line Infantry Regiment. He bears the so-called "Canon Cros" (award characteristic of all Austrian soldiers, officers, generals that partook in anti-Napoleonic Wars of 1813/15).
