Gaspare Betoldi was born in 1778 in Como and died in 1824 in Milan. His works have strongly resembled those of well-known miniaturist Giovanni Battista Gigola, which could be a strong sign of their collaboration. Both artists had the same clientele (Betoldi married Maria Anna Seibelloni from a wealthy Milanese aristocratic family and Gigola worked for this family). We suppose even that Betoldi was a pupil of Gigola. Works of Gaspare Betoldi are to be seen in various Italian and foreign museums (see our additional images).
