"Bivouac of Major von Schill's "Freicorps"", rare German drawing, Napoleonica, 1810s
This large, relatively na´ve (amateur?) drawing, executed in the 1810s, is an important and interesting find for historians of the German military, as well as collectors of Napoleonica (especially for those interested in the items stemming from Napoleonic wars on the territory of modern Germany). It shows a nighttime bivouac of the "Freicorps" of Prussian cavalry major, Ferdinand von Schill - a small riding party of cavalry and mounted infantry, operating in 1809 behind enemy (Napoleonic) lines (CLICK HERE, HERE and HERE).
