Our comparison image nr.9 proves that the depicted military officer (he appears to be about 40 years of age) wears the gala uniform of the Prussian King's "fluegeladjutant" (aide-de-camp) reckoned in cavalry. This uniform corresponds to regulation of 1806.
In that year there was only one aide-de-camp of Friedrich Wilhelm III, who was (from 1804) reckoned in cavalry and who was in the aforementioned age of 40, namely Friedrich Wilhelm Count von Goetzen (1767-1820; see our images nr.10-11 for his extensive biography; also, our image nr.12 shows one of his earlier portraits (as an officer of "Husarenbataillon von Bila", in which he was transferred in 1798; one could well imagine that in the course of six years, after becoming king's aide-de-camp (and thus swapping a hussar's uniform for that of a "fluegeladjutant") von Goetzen could have assumed a fully new image, thus cutting his (previously hanging down) moustache and growing a pair of sideburns)).
Moreover, the depicted officer is shown in a typical hilly Silesian (then - Prussian; nowadays - Polish) landscape; it was in precisely this region (i.e. county Glatz, Lower Silesia) that the family von Goetzen possessed several castles; similarly, it was precisely in Silesia that Friedrich Wilhelm von Goetzen gained fame as the area's brave defender from the advancing Napoleonic troops.
And, though it is rather difficult to compare the smooth-faced hussar from the image nr.9 with "our" portrait's aide-de-camp in gala uniform, all the aforementioned indicators speak in favor of Friedrich Wilhelm von Goetzen…
