Rudolf Ipold (1873 Vienna - 1936 ibidem) was in 1890 a pupil of Viennese painter Adalbert Franz Seligmann and attended the Vienna School of Applied Arts. From 1892 to 1897 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Sigmund L'Allemand and August Eigenmenger. For several years after graduating the Academy he continued to study at the studio of Eduard Veith (Vienna). From 1907 he worked exclusively as portrait painter and miniaturist.
