Francois-Elie Vincent was born in 1708 in Geneva and died in 1790 in Paris, where he settled in 1745. From 1752 he exhibited at the Parisian Academy St. Lue and became its director in 1765. In 1780 he became a painter to "Mesdames de France" and to "Duke de Penthievre. His son, the painter Francois-Andre Vincent, married in 1800 the famous female artist Adelaide Labille-Guiard.
