Gillis Neyts (1623-ca.1687)-Attrib. "Italianate landscape with figures", oil on wood miniature 2000 EUR THE SELLER WILL COVER SHIPPING WITH REGULAR MAIL FOR THIS ITEM! Gillis Neyts (1623 Ghent - 1687 Antwerp) was in 1647/48 a master (member of the Guild of Saint Luke) in Antwerp. He is principally known for his landscape drawings, of which a substantial number survive (among others, 145 sheets are housed in the British Museum in London). His subject matter is conventional, largely consisting of idealized Flemish landscapes and topographical views of Flemish towns and villages, the latter recording his numerous journeys throughout the Southern Netherlands. As with Jan Brueghel the Elder, some of the imaginary scenes incorporate distant views of Antwerp's church spires.
