Jacques Charlier (ca.1720 - 1790) was a well-known French miniature and gouache painter, propably pupil of Francois Boucher, whose works he often copied. Although known above all for his female nudes, he was also a very popular portraitist of his time. In 1753 Charlier was appointed "Peintre en miniature de roi". He was a member of the Parisian Academie de St. Luc and patronized by Duke d'Orleans and Count de Caylus.
