Mme Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun-Attrib. "Girl in red", outstanding small oil painting!!, 1815/18
This outstandingly qualitative portrait of a teenage girl, dressed and hair-styled according to fashion of the 2nd half of 1810s, strongly resembles works of great French portraitist Mme Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun and could, as we believe, be very likely one of the latter's works (for comparison, see our images nr.6-23). Moreover, it could be a portrait of (then 13/14-year-old) artist's niece Eugenia Lebrun (see our images nr.24-25).
We would like to add that, despite the fact that Mme Vigée Le Brun continued to regularly work and exhibit between the years 1815 and 1842, only about ten of her paintings from this period are known thus far.
