Alexandre-Marie Colin (1798 Paris - 1873 ibid.) was a very well-known French painter and lithographer of the 19th century, father of the landscape painter Paul Alfred Colin and the female watercolor artists Heloise Leloir and Laure Noel. He studied from 1814 under Girodet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and began exhibiting in 1819 at the Paris Salon. From 1822 he showed his works every year at the Salon and also exhibited at the London Royal Academy and British Institute. The artist was a very close friend of Delacroix and Bonington and a typical representative of the Romantical Style. His works are to see in most important French museums and museums abroad.
