Chaim Gross was an outstanding Jewish artist active in the United States in the 20th century. He was born in the Carpathian Mountains, Hungary in 1904 and started training in a workshop of a Budapest goldsmith. He later studied in Vienna and moved to New York in 1921 where he continued for four years at the Art School studying sculpture. He was awarded first time in 1936 for decoration of the new post building in Washinton D.C. Chaim Gross was later also active as graphic artist and illustrator.
